Pandemic Journal Day 12

April 18, 2020. When I told the Future-Ex-Wife about how we had been living off on chicken since the lockdown, she suggested us to start having sardines instead.

It’s an inside joke.

For those not in the know, sardines have always been a staple relief goods on every Philippine calamities and disasters, this pandemic included. With instant noodles (not the cupped ones) as the undisputed runner-up. No kidding.

The Philippine Government have set a 200 billion pesos for Social Amelioration Program to aid families stuck in this pandemic. However, more than half a month had passed and the local government units has yet to distribute the funds.

Worse, dirty political tactics are getting in the way. One provincial mayor had to seek the help of Tulfo (a hard-hitting, no-holds-barred commentator on issues pertaining to abuses and injustices committed by people in power against ordinary citizens) because allegedly, the higher-ups took his funds in hostage since he belonged to a different political party.

Insert maniacal laughter here.

Seriously, what’s holding anyone from distributing the funds? The Coronavirus chooses no one and this pandemic has stripped everyone of their income whether one is rich, poor, or in the middle class.

Release the funds so we can buy more sardines, dammit!
